The Book of Joshua simply continues the narrative that has run from Genesis—Deuteronomy. Following the death of Moses, Joshua s appointed by the Lord to lead Israel in taking the land promised to Abraham. This land can only be taken by faith in obedience to the Law (see Deut. 7 and Deut. 20). However, the nation of Israel (led by Joshua!) will repeatedly show their unfaithfulness to the Law.
