Arriving in Ghana on New Year’s Eve almost two decades ago, far from her home country of Australia—this marked the beginning of Merryl Mackenzie’s service with Mercy Ships. First coming on board as a #volunteer operating room nurse, she now serves as hospital director for the AfricaMercy. Merryl’s love for her daughter, who has had health challenges since birth, motivates her in bringing hope and healing to people significantly burdened by lack of access to safe and affordable surgery.
