Walking The Text

Jesus was born during a period of relative stability known as the “Pax Romana” (Latin for “Peace of Rome”). Back then, the Romans prided themselves on bringing peace to the world. Unfortunately, their version of peace meant conquering people with their military and then forcing them to pay taxes. It was great if you were a Roman, but not for most of the rest of the world. That’s the point. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, was born into the midst of chaos.
