Stripped of its context, this verse is catastrophic to one’s faith journey because appears to indicate that pain and difficulty shouldn’t be part of God’s plans for our lives. As a result, Jeremiah 29:11 is a passage hurting people hold onto as one of “God’s promises” during challenging seasons of life. Instead, it’s about trusting God and persevering in in the midst of disappointment and pain!
