The Day of Atonement in Leviticus, sits at the center of the first five books of the Bible. That placement is no accident. It points directly to the heart of the gospel: that Jesus Christ came to atone for our sins. Just as the Old Testament high priest entered the Holy of Holies once a year through sacrifice, Jesus entered the presence of God once for all time through His own blood.
